Dr. Kenneth D.
Wilcox is a graduate from Nova Southeastern University
in Florida, USA. He received his Masters in 1996
and Doctorate Degree in 2001. He has practiced
in the States of Florida, New Jersey, and Washington D.C. in both private practice
and government/state agencies before moving to Cambodia in February 2005 to
work within developmental and advocacy programs there. Dr. Wilcox has 15 years of experience in the
field with over 4 years overseas experience in Southeast Asia, predominantly in
Cambodia, with time spent in
Eastern Africa as well.
In the US, he
developed a private practice working with a large range of patients and
disorders. He also worked with and
developed policy in the Family Court systems in the State of Florida for child protection and family
systems therapy in order to provide intensive in home treatment for families
with legal history and juvenile justice.
He worked extensively within the forensic systems; prisons, courts, and
maximum security psychiatric hospitals as well as with state and federal
agencies both with victims and perpetrators.
Currently, Dr. Wilcox is in Cambodia
and has established a private practice in a country where mental health needs
are large and resources very limited. He offers therapy for expatriates
and Cambodian nationals. He also provides consulting and educational
services for schools, Government and Non-Government Agencies; and works with
media and agencies to promote advocacy and awareness of mental health and
related issues in Cambodia.
