Dr. Ken Wilcox has been dedicated for fifteen years to
helping those in need and to promote advocacy and awareness of societal issues
and how those manifest within the community and the individual’s
identity. Cambodia
has suffered a great deal in the recent past which continues to project forward
to the present in many ways. Dr. Wilcox is working to bring these mental
health issues to light and provide diagnoses and treatment for them. The
main focus now is on this new generation of Khmers who have limited coping
mechanisms in a world that is changing so fast and that conflicts so strongly
with the traditions and culture of the older generation and times. Roles have
changed, identities have changed and all the problems that face the west now
face Cambodia
as well.
Dr. Wilcox and his colleagues work with both Expatriates and
Cambodian Nationals to provide understanding, insight, adjustment, personal
growth and development, as well as comfort and a sense of self identity in a
challenging but supportive manner through Cognitive Behavioral and Humanistic
Theories and Strategies.
